outlook not good

It’s only been 2 days since I started working this year and I’m already unable to stick to my strict 8-to-5 resolution.

Sigh, it sucks having to think for others.

Took a trip up to Kedah last weekend for Wyre’s wedding. Wyre was a college mate of mine back in SC. Married a Malay gal who lived in LA. They make a pretty couple.

The feast was scheduled for Saturday afternoon, so Feruz, Yasz, Liza and I met up at KL Central at 8:30am to start. Since Liza planned everything, we took her up on her offer to take turns driving her green Proton Wira 1.5. She drove first to a petrol station somewhere near Sg. Buloh. That’s when Feruz took over up to Sg. Perak.

Needless to say, Feruz never drove again that weekend. His cornering is rather… ‘digital’.

I grabbed the wheel after that to take us safely to Simpang Ampat.

We ate, we took pics, we chatted. For five hours.

Yasz brought us to our next pitstop, Changlun. Here, we were supposed to meet up with Kak Rosna, the ex-dean (as of 2/1/05) of the education faculty at UUM, who got her Phd at SC while we were there. It was nice, having not seen her in such a long long time. She took us for a short tour of her campus and office, after which she took us to Kuala Perlis for seafood.

After spending the night at her place, we bid farewell and moved on up north for a short stop at Bukit Kayu Hitam to get some cheap stuff like asam jawa. The DFS there wasn’t so cool, and prices weren’t cheap, but we bought some chocs anyway.

On the way down we drove into Penang to meet up with Fiena and her roomie Zorro (a gal, btw). She took us to a Japanese restaurant for some bentos. After that Liza wanted to grab some DVDs from a place called One-Stop. We were happily browsing in the stores when a raid took place, so we were shut in for a bit. There was a bit of excitement in the crowd, but I think the officers were paid their ‘dues’ and went off quietly.

At least Liza got what she wanted. Yasz too, having been left behind in the shop for a while.

Having overstayed the day, we left for home hastily.

Let me reiterate again that Feruz did not drive that day. Thank God I was somewhat asleep when he was, otherwise he wouldn’t hear the end of it.

Monday night. Gathering with old primary schoolmates. Some faces I’ve not seen in a long while: Iskandar (tall version), Nadzim, Johann, Nadiah, and Rozana’s sister Putri. The somewhat usual peeps were Rozana, her hubby Danny, Shahz, Merv, Henry, Kelvin, wired, Suraya, Ariff. frozze and friend James were also there in the background (poor guys).

Tuesday night. I’m left with less than 100 ringgit in all my bank accounts put together. Fortunately, I’ve twice the amount in cash and no outstanding credit card bills. Looks like I won’t be going anywhere for the next 1 to 2 months.
