life’s a stage

09 Oct 2006

here’s the weekend in reverse chronological order:-

just came back from the Young KL Singers’ cast party at Chef & Brew, Plaza D’sara! and guess who i met: a long lost internet buddy, Annette, who’s also part of the choir. fancy that. i’ve always found her pleasant to converse with, and hope to continue our chats.

having attended the party is indeed an amazing experience. you get to go up close and personal with the members, as well as share their feelings about the entire performance as well as their closeness with one another and their music. there are some things that you just can’t feel, see, or hear at a stage performance. imagine being surrounded by a choir performance instead of from a single direction!

nevertheless, the performance itself was alright. personally, i preferred their beat it, sing it performance some time ago. it’s just something abt the percussion, i dunno. but still, their vocal performance is still very good. it’s something they themselves feel good about, having to produce it themselves.

to be honest, i wasn’t that keen on going. was thinking all about the things i had to do at home (watching the first episode of Lost season 3 for example). but i need to get out of the house once in a while, and it did turn out better than expected. yay.

i’ve been skipping sahur for the past 2 mornings, having returning late with a full load in my tummy. probably isn’t such a good idea though, due to the angin when it’s time to break fast.

the night before was me at Alan & Chui Shia’s wedding at the Equatorial, with the usual SMBB crowd. it was great fun having met with tons of people from our class of 96, like Saerah & Marcus, as well as our juniors of ’97. the wedding itself is a twist from the usual ceremony, with the bride and groom making a very grand and entertaining entrance and with songs and presentations all throughout the night.

the party continued to Sky Bar, but our rombongan passed it up. instead, Belle, Zoe, Fish, Khay Hoi and I went for a quick mamak session in Bangsar.

and, Friday night saw me at Tropicana with vendors. But an invitation from Belle the night before made me give up my third round of free buffet gourmet and desserts for iced lemon tea at Chilis. oh well, i hadn’t seen her for so long, and i only found out she was back when she messaged me. and she was going back to Oz on Monday morning. so.. what’s a guy to do?

we also hung out at Zoe’s newly renovated place, which is still empty, but really gorgeously done. well, there are still some touch ups to be done as always, but the general design of things is just amazing. it seems that she’s also lost her cat though; hopefully she’ll return soon.
