aqidah vs muhibbah

Friday prayers at the TM tower. The imam yells syirik!, should you greet your Hindu friends Happy Deepavali. That you’ll lose your iman for saying that, or Gong Xi Fa Cai, Or Merry X’mas for that matter. Same was told to Muslim staff of Takaful Malaysia, and that even made the news.

I think at the end of the day, it really boils down to your relationship with God. If your path is true, simple things like well wishes shouldn’t sway you.

Acknowledging that something exists doesn’t mean that you agree with it. Nor is it something to shun like something viral. Understanding and knowledge of others may even lead you closer to Him. Irregardless of what we believe or do, we are all just searching for Him.

Only the starting point differs.

dry-clean drapes in the washing machine = bad idea.

insects – 4, merv – 0

8236 Just got back from visiting Merv at the hospital. Dengue it was. The guy just doesn’t have any luck with insects, with the incidents with cockroaches and butterflies and all. Let’s just leave it at that. 😛 Don’t worry, he’s getting better. He’ll blog (supposedly) about it later. 🙂

As you can see, I’m starting to get into this whole G2 integration thingie. Problem is I can’t quite get the image to float to one side of my text. It’ll either come out as normal or float and get squashed. Hmm…

Anyway, in light of me being able to only reach certain people by ICQ, I’ve reinstalled a proper client on my gaming PC. And since I can also chat with my Yahoo IM pals via Windows Live, that leaves the Gaim client I leave running on the server kinda redundant. So that gets shut down, and hopefully leaves more resources for Azureus and Limewire.

lost

My respiration mask is missing. Last person to handle it was Khairil. Said he wanted to bring it to school for some reason. And now, it’s missing. He says he didn’t bring it after all (and reason for changing his mind: dunno), and I have a feeling he did leave it at school or given it or had it taken by someone. He just doesn’t want to hear the usual “I told you so!” probably.

Anyways, he owes me a new one.

home team vs external audit

forgot to note this before the weekend. there was a major fuss between the company and our auditors on the closing meeting. the lead auditor refused to back off on an issue, with the home team adamant that there really is no issue. actually, i kinda understood what the guy was trying to prove, but he just didn’t make it clear enough and didn’t really expose SAP’s capabilities in that context.

and i wasn’t going to help him either. beware the company whip! 🙂

life’s a stage

here’s the weekend in reverse chronological order:-

just came back from the Young KL Singers’ cast party at Chef & Brew, Plaza D’sara! and guess who i met: a long lost internet buddy, Annette, who’s also part of the choir. fancy that. i’ve always found her pleasant to converse with, and hope to continue our chats.

having attended the party is indeed an amazing experience. you get to go up close and personal with the members, as well as share their feelings about the entire performance as well as their closeness with one another and their music. there are some things that you just can’t feel, see, or hear at a stage performance. imagine being surrounded by a choir performance instead of from a single direction!

nevertheless, the performance itself was alright. personally, i preferred their beat it, sing it performance some time ago. it’s just something abt the percussion, i dunno. but still, their vocal performance is still very good. it’s something they themselves feel good about, having to produce it themselves.

to be honest, i wasn’t that keen on going. was thinking all about the things i had to do at home (watching the first episode of Lost season 3 for example). but i need to get out of the house once in a while, and it did turn out better than expected. yay.

i’ve been skipping sahur for the past 2 mornings, having returning late with a full load in my tummy. probably isn’t such a good idea though, due to the angin when it’s time to break fast.

the night before was me at Alan & Chui Shia’s wedding at the Equatorial, with the usual SMBB crowd. it was great fun having met with tons of people from our class of 96, like Saerah & Marcus, as well as our juniors of ’97. the wedding itself is a twist from the usual ceremony, with the bride and groom making a very grand and entertaining entrance and with songs and presentations all throughout the night.

the party continued to Sky Bar, but our rombongan passed it up. instead, Belle, Zoe, Fish, Khay Hoi and I went for a quick mamak session in Bangsar.

and, Friday night saw me at Tropicana with vendors. But an invitation from Belle the night before made me give up my third round of free buffet gourmet and desserts for iced lemon tea at Chilis. oh well, i hadn’t seen her for so long, and i only found out she was back when she messaged me. and she was going back to Oz on Monday morning. so.. what’s a guy to do?

we also hung out at Zoe’s newly renovated place, which is still empty, but really gorgeously done. well, there are still some touch ups to be done as always, but the general design of things is just amazing. it seems that she’s also lost her cat though; hopefully she’ll return soon.

theme revamp 3

Hey peeps. Still messing around with WordPress. I’ve gotten my Gallery2 integration all set up. All that’s left is looking for a QuickLinks replacement, which I haven’t found an exact equivalent for. Well, I did, but BianHuan doesn’t seem to work with PHP5 due to what seems to be usage of the somewhat extinct ezXML library.

Anyways, besides that things are fine and dandy. Trying to play around with Asides now, which is.. basically.. posting something in relation to another post? Hmm..

Once I get this figured out, then you’ll probably start seeing some Doukutsu graphics. 🙂

theme revamp 2

After looking at all the work I’ll need to redo my theme, I’ve decided to just switch to WordPress. Reason being it has pretty much all the functionality I currently enjoy with Movable Type (except maybe QuickLinks and SpamLookup) AND it has Gallery 2 integration! And it’s PHP; I like PHP.

I’ll be exporting my entries over, but things like my moods and hypnotunes will most likely be lost. So I’ll probably keep the old site up for reference purposes.
